Babi Blu is an American Singer and songwriter. A native of Arizona, Blu became a seasoned performer at a young age, singing as young as 8 years old in smoke filled clubs, surrounded by drunk bar flies. In her early teens, she began travelling to Los Angeles, sneaking into local music venues with her mother or lying about her young age to perform her music. Babi Blu is currently signed with Randy Jackson’s management company, 1963 Entertainment, turning to the next chapter in her music career…
Blu plays guitar and keyboard. Babi has toured in France after some of her earlier music was being played on local and internet radio stations all throughout Europe.
Biography
Blu’s lyrics are honest ones. She tells her truth, no matter who might be made uncomfortable by it. “My truth might be similar to some one else’s truth, so I have to speak it for someone out there that might not have a voice or has a harder time using there’s.” Babi Blu says when discussing her writing. When asking her how she became so comfortable and open sharing intimate parts of her life in her lyrics, she says this; “I wasn’t always that way. It took me a while to show someone any ‘deeper than surface level’ type lyrics, but at this point it’s cathartic for me.” In fact, she recalled one of her early experiences with Hollywood, Pop songwriters, mentioning they told her the public was going to be off put by her lyrics. She recalled, one hit making producer saying, “That’s way too dark for the public to digest, you can’t say that.”
She went home defeated, swimming in her thoughts, wondering why she couldn’t tell her story if that’s what she lived? Years later, after moving to L.A. she met Randy Jackson, sat in his office playing her guitar, and he signed her right away. Randy Jackson said “Let’s go there… I want you to forget every thing every one told you before me, and I want you to be honest. Can you do that? I only want to know who you really are. That the only way this will work.”
